Thanks so much for checking out my blog. Feel free to ask me questions, leave me comments and generally have a good nosey around.
a bit about me
I’m a former lawyer who could never quite keep a straight enough face during negotiations, so I moved in-house within the fashion industry, where I learned not to underestimate the tough intelligence beneath the frills and flounce.
I’m a specialist in intellectual property and corporate law, with a deeply ingrained aversion to capitalism and technology (you need to see my cathode-ray big box TV, VCR and CD player set up to truly understand…).
I’ve spent the past ten years working with all manner of creative geniuses, enterprising geeks, delusional despots, genuine grafters and accidental millionaires. And now I aspire to be somewhere amongst them.
I wish I could say that I’ve sussed out the alchemy for success in business, but in truth I’m none the wiser. Fortune seems to favour the truly stupid as often as the brave. But you’ve got to be in it to win it, so I’ve swapped full-time for free time, job security for winging it. I’ve decided that working hard is criminally overrated. I’ve a feeling that working smart is where the magic lies.
this blog
making it : small style refers to the fact that I’m not after fame, status, mega bucks or world domination. I just want to see if I can make something out of the ideas that occasionally strike me. To experiment with what sticks and what bombs. To learn lessons and take risks and try to maintain a sense of humour throughout.
3 reasons for this blog:
- to force me to stop talking and start doing… something… anything.
- to chronicle my successes and failures (and general ramblings).
- to share knowledge and invite expertise; sharing is caring, you know.
Thanks for reading. Your support means a lot to me. I am nothing without peer pressure.
